The words “Primum Non Nocere” are most often associated with the Hippocratic Oath.

The Hippocratic oath or medical code of ethics is one of the oldest binding documents in history, the oath written by Hippocrates is still held sacred by physicians today.

One section states —

“…there is art to medicine as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug”

PRIMUM NON NOCERE means “First, do no harm”

Maternal Health Disparities

The CDC estimates that 700 to 900 new and expectant mothers die in the U.S. each year.

Experts agree that most pregnancy-related deaths can be prevented. Importantly, the significant racial and ethnic disparities that exist in pregnancy-related mortality needs to be addressed. As you might imagine this is a complex issue and many in the healthcare field are working to confront the problem but there is lots to be done.

Proceeds from this collection will go directly to organizations that support maternal health equity, social justice, education and the arts.
